  • The DRII is a selective program for students with demonstrated academic success, the capacity for sustained self-management, and the desire to challenge themselves with a sustained independent project that will satisfy their need to create and showcase their work to colleges and universities.

    Superior written and verbal communication skills

    Self-Motivation and Initiative:

    Students need to take charge of their work without constant guidance. They should be proactive in setting goals and seeking out resources

    Curiosity and Creativity:

    Ability to think outside the box, explore new ideas, and approach problems with curiosity and innovation

    Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving:

    The ability to analyze complex problems and devise effective solutions

    Time Management and Organization

    Managing deadlines, breaking down tasks, and staying on top of project progress

    Resilience and Adaptability:

    Independent projects can present challenges and unexpected setbacks. Students need to stay resilient, adapting to new circumstances while keeping the big picture in mind.

    Passion for the Subject

    Genuine interest in the project area is a strong motivator and helps students to push through difficulties and dive deeper into their work.

    Collaboration and Networking Skills

    While the project may be independent, students often benefit from working with mentors, peers, or external experts. Being able to ask for feedback and incorporate it into their work is critical.

    Attention to Detail

    Thoroughness and precision, especially in research or technical projects, help ensure the quality of the final outcome

  • Qualities

    Demonstrates the qualities of a successful DRII candidate through their teacher recommendation, interview, and application.

    Academic Performance

    Unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above

    English Proficiency

    As demonstrated by such indicators as school curriculum, English language course of study, and standardized test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, ACT, AP English Language and Composition).
